Sympathy from the Stars

Sympathy from the Stars is a proggy hard rock band that experiments with a variety of sounds to produce a unique feel. The guitar work is very solid and I really love the riffage on Heroes Vs Hitlers. The two guitars are interesting as one is almost always soloing meaning that the music feels very layered and epic. The bass work is very heavy and the steady bass lines are a defining aspect of the band's sound. The drum work on the record is pretty good and does a good job lining up with the bass and rhythm guitar to form a solid base for the melodies. The vocals are reasonably good, they are rather calm and controlled. Which fits in with the rest of the band. Their work is tightly structured and very well executed. The lyrics are also notable as this is a concept album and the lyrics are pretty mature. Overall Sympathy for the Stars is an excellent band with lots of guitar parts and fun riffs. Go check 'em out.
